A Car History Report is essential when shopping for a used car:
Check if an accident has been reported
Confirm the reported mileage
Next to your home, the purchase of a car is probably one of the most expensive items you’ll ever buy. When buying a used car, it can be a challenge to determine if the car you are considering to buy (a reliable car that will last for years) is exactly what you’re going to end up with.
Here’s some questions you should ask yourself:
Has an accident ever been reported on the car?
Is the mileage on the odometer accurate?
Has the car ever been recalled?
How many people have owned this car?
Has the car been damaged by floods, fires, hail or other natural disasters?
Was the car used as a service car (police car, taxi, rental, etc.)?
Has the car ever had a branded title (e.g., junked, salvaged or rebuilt)?
Was the car ever repossessed or stolen?
Has the car ever been sold at auction?
Is there a lien on the car?
Title and Problem Check
Any issues with the car’s title will be presented on the Car History Report. For example, if the car has a salvage or junk title, it will be reported. Title brands or odometer problems will also be on the history report.
Odometer Check
Odometer Check can report on the instances on record where the odometer reading was reported. Any reported odometer reading that is out of line with what is expected will be flagged for you.
